Retirement Planning

Retirement Planning is a process that ensures that your golden years are truly golden. To be effective the planning has to start long before one’s actual retirement date. There are really three phases and each is important to ensuring a comfortable retirement.

The first phase is pre-retirement. This takes place during your working years or as I call them “the accumulation years.”  The decisions that are made during this stage will largely determine how much income you will have when you retire. 

The next phase is retirement itself. This takes place in a relatively short period of time. The decisions made here, such as pension maximization, can easily mean the difference between comfort and hardship during your post retirement years.

The final stage is post-retirement. This is when you get to enjoy the rewards of the previous phases. The decisions you make here will affect your ability to continue the lifestyle you worked and planned so carefully to establish. No matter where you are on the retirement timeline, you have some idea of what you would like to do when you retire. With a well defined plan, you can turn your retirement goals and dreams into reality.
